Shotgun: fees, payouts, and when another option fits

Honest comparison for US organizers β€” Shotgun vs Tickean on cost, cash flow, and operations.

Shotgun does not publish a standard organizer percentage. It does publish a resale cap of 15% up to $30, and a waitlist fee of 15% up to $50. Those caps are not the platform fee.

Independent promoters should model three ticket price points and expected sell-through before choosing a stack for the season.

Tickean is one option: the organizer keeps the ticket price, buyers pay 10% per paid ticket with card processing included, and that ticket price is paid out within 2 business days of the sale. Venue-required vendors still come first.

Move the calendar when net margin and ops are better.

What to look for

Shotgun fees in the United States

Shotgun does not publish a standard organizer percentage, so this page does not invent one. It does publish a resale cap of 15% with a $30 cap, and a waitlist fee of 15% with a $50 cap. Those are resale rules, not the fee on a primary ticket.

Tickean's published primary fee is 10% to the buyer, card processing included. A $25 ticket is $27.50 and the organizer keeps $25.

Payout timing and cash flow

Shotgun's payout date is in the agreement you sign. This page does not copy another platform's clock onto them.

Tickean orders the ticket price within 2 business days of the sale. A Friday sale is initiated on Tuesday. The bank posts the credit on its own clock.

When to switch from Shotgun

Stay if your agreement's unpublished rate is the one you want. Switch when you want a published 10%, the face value kept whole, and a payout ordered from the sale. Do not treat the 15% resale cap as Shotgun's ticket fee.
