Event referral program: let your fans sell your tickets

Every buyer gets a personal link. When friends buy, they level up and unlock the reward you choose (a drink, a free ticket, or VIP access) as a QR code redeemed at the door.

A friend saying "I'm going" is still the strongest reason to buy a ticket. Tickean's referral program turns that into a system: every buyer gets a personal invite link, sees how many friends bought through it, and knows which reward is next.

You set the rules per event: what counts (each order, each ticket, or each unique buyer), how many tiers there are, and what each tier unlocks. Rewards are issued as QR codes and redeemed at the door with the same Tickean scanner you already use for tickets.

No spreadsheets, no screenshots. Attribution is automatic, refunded orders stop counting, and nobody can refer themselves. Your dashboard shows who brings the most people, how many rewards were issued, and how many were redeemed.

How it works

  1. 1

Turn it on for your event

We activate it with you, then you set tiers from the event's Referrals tab.

  2. 2

    Every buyer gets a link

After checkout they see their link on the confirmation screen and in their account, ready to share.

  3. 3

    Friends buy through it

They see who invited them and the order is attributed automatically. No extra steps for the guest.

  4. 4

    Unlock and redeem

Each tier issues a QR reward by WhatsApp or email, redeemed at the event.

What to look for

Why your crowd outsells an ad

Before buying a ticket, most people check who else is going. A friend who already bought answers that better than any paid post, right where plans get made: the group chat.

The problem is that word of mouth is invisible and unrewarded. With referrals, every link is personal, so you know who drove each sale and can give something real back.

Which rewards work best

The best rewards feel valuable to fans and cost little to run: a drink at the bar, skip-the-line entry, a VIP upgrade, event merch, or a free ticket to your next date.

Avoid cash or discounts that undercut your public price. The goal is a community that feels recognized, not one that waits for a promo code.

How to design tiers

An easy first tier gets many people moving: 2 or 3 orders and there's already a reward. The top tier should be aspirational and reachable only by your best ambassadors.

A setup that works for clubs and parties: 3 orders, a drink; 7 orders, VIP access; 15 orders, a free ticket. If you count tickets instead of orders, raise the thresholds so one large group doesn't unlock everything at once.

Referrals vs. promoters vs. promo codes

Promoters are sellers with guest lists, allocations, and commissions. Promo codes change the price. Referrals are different: your own buyers invite friends and earn rewards in kind, while the ticket price stays the same.

They work together. Keep promoters on their lists and add referrals so every buyer also brings people.

Frequently asked questions

What is an event referral program?

It's a system where every buyer gets a personal link to invite friends. When those friends buy tickets, the referrer earns progress and unlocks rewards set by the organizer.

What rewards can I offer?

Anything you can deliver at the event: a drink, merch, VIP access, skip-the-line entry, or a free ticket. Each reward is issued as a QR code and validated at the door.

What counts as a referral?

You choose per event: each order, each ticket, or each unique buyer. Only paid orders made through the referrer's link count.

What happens if an order is refunded?

It stops counting toward the referrer's progress. If that drops them below a tier and the reward hasn't been redeemed, the reward is revoked.

Can someone refer themselves?

No. Tickean compares the buyer's identity with the link owner's and skips attribution when they match.

Do invited guests pay more?

No. They pay the same price as anyone else. The organizer gives the reward to the person who invited them.

Need to sell tickets too?

If the model fits, create your event in minutes. 0% organizer fee; fast payouts via the payment provider.
