A promo code lowers the face value. The 10% applies to the price after the code. A $25 ticket with a code that makes it $20 is $22.00 to the buyer, and you keep $20. If you advertise the code in public, advertise $22.00. A code that is truly private can be revealed with its total in the same message.
How should promo codes change the ticket price?
For US organizers. Numbers checked in November 2026.

The answer
A promo code lowers the face value. The 10% applies to the price after the code. A $25 ticket with a code that makes it $20 is $22.00 to the buyer, and you keep $20. If you advertise the code in public, advertise $22.00. A code that is truly private can be revealed with its total in the same message.
A worked example
Code STAFF for 10 tickets at $0. That is a comp, fee $0, and it should be a guest-list count, not an infinite code. Code EARLY for $5 off a $25 face makes a $20 face and a $22.00 charge.
What to do next
Put a use limit on every code. A leaked code without a limit reprices the whole show.
Fits many event types
Clubs and concerts
Independent rooms that do not have a venue-mandated vendor.
Parties
A page, a price, and a door list.
Conferences
Several ticket types and a scan at each room.
Understand the real cost: 0% organizer fee.
Organizers keep the ticket price. Buyers pay 10%, and card processing is included.

What does the buyer pay on a $25 ticket?
A $25 ticket is $27.50. The organizer keeps $25. Card processing is inside the 10%. Ticket Tailor can be lower. On a $25 ticket the buyer pays about $26.68 if Stripe's domestic 2.9% + 30Β’ is passed through on that one ticket. Tickean is $27.50, in one line, and the organizer does not run a Stripe account.
When does the organizer get paid?
Within 2 business days of the sale. A business day is a weekday that is not a US public holiday. The bank posts the credit on its own clock.
Is there a monthly fee?
No monthly fee and no sign-up fee. A free ticket is $0. A written rate replaces the 10%. It does not sit on top of it.
