How should a campus event sell tickets?

For US organizers. Numbers checked in November 2026.

Tickean does not publish a campus discount. If students pay less, that is a tier you priced, and the 10% applies to that lower face value. A free student ticket is $0. The school may also require its own vendor. If it does, the requirement wins. The FTC all-in price rule still applies to the price you show.

How it works

  1. 1

    Write the total

Face value plus the booking fee, before you announce the show.

  2. 2

    Publish one checkout

Tiers, capacity, and a link you can send today.

  3. 3

    Sell the first tickets

The sale date starts the payout clock.

The answer

A worked example

Student face $10, buyer pays $11.00. Public face $20, buyer pays $22.00. Two tiers, two caps, one door. A student code without a cap becomes the public price by midnight.

What to do next

Confirm whether the campus contract allows an outside checkout. Then set the two tiers.
